The 4th of July/225th Anniversary Celebration is just around the corner. We have been planning a  day filled with music, game and activities, and food and beverages at the Village Green and the Jay Fire Department. Food will be provided by Dogfather at the Jay Fire Department and 2 Jerks BBQ at the Village Green. Hex and Hop Brewery will be at both locations with a range of beverages. SoulShine Energy and Mr. Ding-a-Ling Ice Cream will be at the Village Green while musical guests Mark Rust and Austin & The In-laws perform. While at the Jay Fire Department, the firemen will be serving fried bread dough, soda, and games which include the ever popular pull-tabs! Music at the firehouse will include Spoiler and On3, while the Town of Jay will operate bounce houses on the front lawn. The day will begin with a parade down Route 9N at noon and wrap up with fireworks at the Jay Fire Department at dusk. We are still looking for volunteers and donations for the event, you can reach out to my office if you are interested in helping out!
Youth Commission Softball and Baseball are currently underway at the fields in the Grove. I
would like to thank all of our volunteer coaches for the work they do with the kids and the love
they put into the fields. Joe Lincoln and Josh Crowningshield did an incredible job over the
weekend clearing the pesky weeds from the infield which helps our fields look better and better
each year. It definitely takes teamwork between the Town of Black Brook, the Town of Jay,
volunteers, and parents to make our community the great place we call home! Soccer signups are underway for the fall season, reach out to the Town of Black Brook or my office for more details.
Essex County Office of the Aging will be encouraging individuals to visit Farmers Markets this
summer by offering coupons to qualifying individuals. On July 14th from 11:00am until 12:00pm, they will be at the nutrition site located in the Community Center to disburse coupon booklets to income eligible individuals and families. Check out the attached flyer and stop by to get yours.
Have a great week,
Matt.
