Happy 4th of July!  The Jay Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual 4th of July Celebration.  Parade begins at noon on Route 9N beginning at the Upper Jay end of the hamlet and finishing at the Jay Fire Station.  After the parade, the festivities will take place behind the fire station to include food, games and beverages.  This is always a great time to catch up with family and friends.  A live band will perform from 5:30-8:30 and fireworks will happen at dusk.  If you are interested in donating or volunteering please check out the fire department Facebook page.  Hope to see you there!

As youth commission softball and baseball are underway, soccer sign-ups have begun.  You can complete your registration online: https://forms.gle/nhLqdjPMCuWND5P49 or pick up a paper from either the Town of Jay or the Town of Black Brook and return it to either town office.  As with all youth sports, we are in need of volunteer coaches.  If you are interested in coaching, please send a letter of interest to Jessie Douglass at the Town of Black Brook or Carol Greenley-Hackel at the Town of Jay.  We also need umpires for the current season of softball and baseball.  You can make $35 per game, reach out to Jessie Douglass if you are interested.

Lastly, since Chris Sorrell was appointed Highway Superintendent last month, the Town of Jay has an opening at the Highway Department to fill his vacated position.  The position does require a class A or B CDL and starts at $24.50 per hour plus benefits.  If you are interested, please stop by the Highway Garage on Valley Road, Monday through Thursday to fill out an application.  We look forward to having you join our team!

Hope you have a great week,

Matt.
