On Sunday evening I attended the Au Sable River Valley Business Association Business Showcase at NewVida Preserve.  It was a great evening to learn a little more about the offerings at the old Paleface location.  Owner Rick Vidal gave a short presentation about the Bistro, Dining Room and Bar food options.  He discussed the spa options, which include yoga, massage therapy and the future pool and sauna area.  He also discussed the desire to make the trails available for hiking and in the future, skiing.  They already have 14 suites available for guests and are looking to expand and find a use for the building where Adirondack Life used to have their offices.  After his presentation, he gave a tour of the location.  I was able to discuss housing needs, current and future business needs, and business succession planning with several people.  Attached is a picture of Rick discussing the operation with the business association.  If you are looking for additional dining options in the Town of Jay, you can visit the Ice Jam Inn, Adirondack Mountain Coffee Café, Lance’s Place and opening for the winter season on December 18th is the Monday Tuesday Grill.

Last week, the Essex County Board of Supervisors adopted the 2024 Tentative Essex County Budget as the 2024 Essex County Budget.  This budget has a tax levy increase of 3.19% from the 2023 tax levy.  The tax rate for the Town of Jay for county tax will go from $3.05 for 2023 to $2.70 for 2024.  If you would like to see the 2024 Tentative Budget, you can visit this link: https://essexcountyny.gov/wp/wp-content/uploads/2023-Tentative-Budget-Appropriations.pdf

The monthly Planning Board meeting is Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 6:00pm.  On Thursday, at 7:00pm, the Town Board will hold its monthly board meeting.  You can attend both meetings in person or virtually.  The link for each meeting can be found on our website, on each board’s webpage.

Hope you have a great week,
