This past Thursday, the Town of Jay Town Board adopted the 2024 Budget for the town.  This budget can be viewed on our website, as well as prior years’ budgets.  The 2024 Adopted Budget is a tax levy increase of 5.9% or $125,018.70 over the 2023 Adopted Budget.  This budget was able to fix a lot of issues in recruitment and retention of staff, replacement of aging equipment, and repairing infrastructure.  The Town of Jay is now on the right path forward.   I will be posting the tax rates for 2024 once we get updated numbers from Essex County Real Property.

As the weather changes and roadways and walkways become snow covered.  Please remember to remove your vehicles off the streets.  Vehicles are not allowed to park on sidewalks, but especially at this time of year.   It can be dangerous for the Town of Jay staff to clear roadways and walkways when obstacles are in their way.  We will be sending out Voyent Alerts as weather advisories and snow removal plans become available.

The 19th Annual Christmas in the Forks Committee with the assistance of Northline Utilities will once again be featuring a community light up parade beginning at 6:00pm on Saturday, December 2nd.  They are currently looking for new and returning parade entries.  Anyone interested in putting an entry into the parade is asked to send an email note to Randy Douglas at randydouglas12@gmail.com by November 25th.  See the attached poster for a schedule of other activities.

I would like to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.  The Town of Jay offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday.  We will resume normal operation on Monday, November 27th.

Hope you have a great week,
Matt.
