Essex County 4-H Alumni: Save the Date!
As a proud Essex County 4-H alumnus and Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Essex County Board member, I am happy to announce that CCE is hosting a special Essex County 4-H Alumni Meetup on Friday, July 31st from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The gathering will take place at the new Essex County Youth and Agriculture Building, located at 6 Fairground Way in Westport.
Stop by to catch up with old friends, share your favorite 4-H memories, and enjoy some ice cream. Attendees can also pick up exclusive 4-H swag and provide feedback to help guide future youth programming. Be sure to follow CCE on social media for the latest details as the event approaches. We hope to see you there!
N-95 Masks Available at the Community Center
As hazy skies and drifting smoke from the Canadian wildfires continue to impact local air quality, the Town of Jay is taking steps to ensure everyone stays safe and healthy. Through a partnership with Essex County Emergency Services, free N-95 masks are now available for all residents at the Community Center during regular business hours.
Please note that supplies are limited, and masks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because standard cloth or surgical masks cannot filter out the fine particulate matter found in wildfire smoke, a properly fitted N-95 mask is highly recommended if you must spend time outdoors. This is especially important for high-risk individuals, including children, older adults, and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.
Public Hearings and Special Meeting
The Town of Jay Town Board has scheduled Public Hearings followed by a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, July 22nd, starting at 6:30 pm. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss bonding for the DEC-mandated water meters and short-term water upgrades across all three Town of Jay Water Districts. Residents are highly encouraged to attend, either in person or online.
