Summer Concert Series
The Town of Jay is once again partnering with the Jay Entertainment and Music Society (JEMS) for our 10-week summer concert series at the Jay Village Green. The series will kick off with the band Freight on Saturday, July 4th at 6:00 pm and will continue every week through Labor Day.
If rain is in the forecast, the performance will move into the Amos and Julia Ward Theater. JEMS will provide refreshments, and all donations will help support continued community programming. Check out the attached flyer for the full concert schedule. This program is proudly funded by Essex County Occupancy Tax funds.
Youth Commission Soccer
Summer is just beginning and softball and baseball are in full swing at the Grove. However, before we know it, soccer season will be here. Registration is officially open for the upcoming youth soccer season!
The Youth Commission Soccer program is open to all children residing in the Town of Black Brook or the Town of Jay. Students from Au Sable Forks Elementary School, private schools, and homeschool families are all welcome. The Clinton County Youth Soccer program has divisions from 1st to 6th grade. Special Meetings
On Monday, June 22nd, the Town of Jay Town Board will hold a Public Hearing at 6:45 pm, immediately followed by a Special Board Meeting at 7:00 pm. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss Local Law Number 2 of 2026 to enact a Best Value Procurement Policy. This policy will enable the town to purchase through statewide purchasing agreements like Sourcewell. Specifically, this program will allow us to explore purchasing a demo Motor Grader at a fraction of the cost to replace our 1990s model, which has become increasingly difficult to find parts for.
We will also discuss the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) for our upcoming water district upgrades, which include the mandated water meters. Completing this review will allow us to apply for additional grant funding to assist with these projects.
Additionally, the AuSable Valley Central School District will hold a Special Meeting on Monday evening starting at 6:00 pm in the Middle/High School Auditorium. The board will discuss the Facilities Study that was introduced during the budget process.
Happening This Weekend
The Au Sable Forks Fire Department will hold a Car Wash, Boot Drive, and Bottle Drive tomorrow, Saturday, June 20th, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. The event takes place at their new firehouse at 2456 Route 9N in Au Sable Forks. Please stop by to support this local fundraising effort.
Hope you have a great weekend, and a very Happy Father’s Day,
Matt.
