Town of Jay Amnesty Day Returns
Clear your clutter and mark your calendars for Amnesty Day on Saturday, May 16th, from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM or until the bins are full. Town of Jay residents are invited to bring bulky waste, scrap metal, and electronics to the Highway Department at 168 Valley Road. This free service is a great opportunity to dispose of everything from furniture and appliances to old computers and mattresses. Please note that there is a limit of one Freon-containing item and four tires (off-rim and clean) per household.
To keep the event running smoothly, please remember that construction debris, hazardous materials, and propane tanks are strictly prohibited. You will need to bring proof of residency, and for safety reasons, all children must remain in the vehicle during drop-off. If you have questions about specific items, feel free to contact the town office at (518) 647-2204 ext. 125.
4th of July Fundraiser
Support the Jay Volunteer Fire Department and their Annual 4th of July Celebration! The department is currently hosting its 4th of July Firework and Entertainment Fundraiser, with tickets available for $20 each. This is a high-stakes raffle with only 375 tickets being sold, giving you a great shot at being one of the three lucky $1,000 winners. All proceeds go directly toward funding our community’s Independence Day fireworks and a day packed with fun activities for everyone to enjoy.
The winning tickets will be drawn at the 4th of July Parade at 12:00 PM, though you do not need to be present to win. You must be at least 18 years old to participate. Tickets are moving fast, so grab yours today at Devin’s Garage, or by reaching out to Jim at 518-534-4143 or Dean at 518-524-2696. Don’t miss your chance to win big while giving back to our community.
Youth Commission Summer Sports Begin
The Grove Athletic Fields have been busy this week with baseball, softball, and tee ball all kicking off. It is wonderful to see the facility buzzing with activity so many evenings during the week. I would like to thank our staff for the great work they do to maintain the fields and our volunteer coaches for their dedication to the youth of our community. Thank you for all you do!
