Public WiFi Update
The Public WiFi is now up and running at the Grove Athletic Complex! Whether you’re enjoying a picnic under the pavilion, attending a game or practice at the softball or baseball fields, or out on the soccer field, you can now stay connected. Just log in to the “Town of Jay Public” network to surf the web, text for a ride, or make calls if your phone is WiFi-enabled.

In addition to expanded access, new video surveillance cameras have been installed to enhance public safety in the area. A big thank you goes to the Essex County IT Department for their help with installation. This entire project was funded through Occupancy Tax revenues. Work is still underway at the Community Center and Riverside Park, and those sites should be online soon.

Contractors Wanted
The North Country Rural Development Coalition is seeking proposals from qualified general contractors to join their Approved Contractor List. Active and upcoming projects include the CDBG Home Restoration Grant and future Essex County Land Bank initiatives.

All projects are publicly funded and must comply with federal and state regulations, including HUD Section 3, M/WBE (Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise), SDVOB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business), ADA, and Fair Housing requirements.

Interested contractors should contact Nicole Justice Green at 518-585-6366 or email: office@northcountryruraldevelopment.org.

Events Happening Around Town
The summer season is in full swing, and there’s no shortage of things to do in the Town of Jay:
• The Au Sable Forks Fast Pitch Association hosts its annual Slow Pitch Tournament this weekend in Au Sable Forks, starting tonight and running through Sunday.
• The Summer Concert Series continues tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. on the Jay Village Green.
• Sunday is Ironman—expect some traffic interruptions, but you will be able to travel throughout the Town of Jay. Visit Ironman Traffic Impact or refer to the traffic flow map included in this update (follow the direction of the arrows).
• For a full listing of summer events, check out the Jay Community News Calendar: https://jaynews.org/events/

Condolences
Lastly, I’d like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Gerry Hall. Gerry was a dedicated public servant who gave over 40 years to the Jay Volunteer Fire Department—12 of those as Chief. He also helped establish the Au Sable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service and served as a Town of Jay Councilman for 20 years.

I doubt there’s a single person in the Town of Jay who hasn’t been positively impacted by Gerry’s service in some way—whether they knew it or not. He will be deeply missed.

Hope you have a great weekend,
Matt
