Grove Road Culvert Update
The Town of Jay has been working closely with H & T Engineering to design and prepare bid documents for the Grove Road culvert replacement near the Green Street end. Although we had initially sought a BridgeNY grant to fund the project, our application was not successful. At the time, the estimated cost was around $300,000, and we opted to use approximately $60,000 in ARPA funds to move forward with engineering.

This week, bid documents were finalized, and both the APA and DEC have approved the plans. The project is now officially out to bid. However, H & T Engineering has indicated that the cost may now exceed $400,000. If the bids come back at that level, we may need to pause until additional funding can be secured. On a positive note, having completed engineering plans in hand will make us a stronger candidate for future grant opportunities. We’ll continue to keep the community updated as this project moves forward.

Thank You
A big thank you goes out to the Jay Fire Department for putting on an incredible Fourth of July celebration. I had a great time participating in the parade and enjoyed connecting with so many of you along the route and on the Fire Department grounds. I’ve heard nothing but praise—especially about the evening’s fireworks display. Thank you for all you do for our community.

I’d also like to thank and congratulate Robbie Lincoln on his retirement from the Town of Jay. Robbie’s dedication and hard work have left a lasting legacy within our Highway Department. On behalf of the entire town, I want to express my gratitude for all you’ve done—especially during some of our most challenging times. Enjoy your well-earned retirement!

Hope you have a great weekend,
Matt
