Grove Fields Open for the Season
The Town of Jay Parks Department has been hard at work preparing the softball and baseball fields for the season. We’re excited to announce that the fields are now open, and the Town of Jay/Town of Black Brook Youth Commission softball and baseball teams will begin practices this Monday, May 5th.
Restroom facilities are now open and available for public use. As always, please respect the facility and your fellow community members: carry out what you carry in. Thank you, and here’s to an incredible season ahead!
Community Garden Opportunities
Interested in gardening but don’t have the space at home? The Town of Jay offers seasonal plots in the Community Garden for just $25. Stop by the Town Clerk’s office to reserve your space and join others who share your love of gardening.
To support our gardeners, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County will host a “Garden in a Bucket” class on Thursday, May 22nd, just before the noon senior meal at the Community Center. Supplies are limited, so please contact my office in advance if you’d like to participate. Special thanks to Ward Lumber for donating the buckets!
Quick Action on Graffiti — Thank You, NYS DOT
Earlier this week, Town of Jay Highway Superintendent Chris Sorrell was alerted to graffiti under the Main Street Bridge near the Tahawus Cultural Center in Au Sable Forks. Upon discovering spray paint cans at the scene, he promptly contacted the New York State Police and NYS Department of Transportation.
Thanks to quick coordination, a DOT bridge crew arrived that same afternoon and removed the graffiti. We extend our sincere thanks to all involved. Please continue to keep an eye out and report any vandalism to the proper authorities.
Upcoming Town Board Meeting
A reminder that our regular Monthly Town Board Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 PM at the Community Center. The meeting will also be accessible online via our GoToMeeting link available on the Town website.
Wishing you a great weekend,
Matt
