United Way of the Adirondack Region Fundraiser
Last Saturday I participated in the annual Rappel for a Reason at Lake View Towers in Plattsburgh (photo attached). The United Way of the Adirondack Region is an incredible support system for the Town of Jay, stepping up during community emergencies and helping families in need. Their goal for this year’s event was to raise $75,000, and thanks to strong community support they raised $105,000, all of which stays local to support families. I’ve called on United Way many times, and they always answer the call. A special thank you to John Bernardi and his team for their dedication. If you would like to donate to this amazing organization, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Project Update
The first phase of the Public Wifi and Camera upgrade was completed today. We now have a total of 10 cameras in place at the Community Center, Grove Athletic Complex, and Riverside Park. Public Wifi is available around the Grove Athletic Complex fields and parking lot, Riverside Park and the Tops parking lot, and inside the Community Center. Simply search for “Town of Jay Public” Wifi, join the network, and your device will automatically reconnect when you return.

New Soccer Goals
The old, crooked goal posts at the Grove Athletic Complex have been replaced with brand-new aluminum Euro-Style goals with nets. These were funded through an Essex County Youth Bureau grant and Occupancy Tax Funds. The upgrade arrived a couple of weeks behind schedule, but will be able to be enjoyed for the remainder of the fall soccer season.  We wish all of our youth teams the best of luck this year!

Shop with a Cop
The 2025 Essex County Law Enforcement Shop with a Cop program helps children build positive relationships with local law enforcement while ensuring they have a wonderful Christmas experience. Donations can be sent to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office Benevolent Fund, Inc. A tax-deductible receipt is available upon request. For more information or to make a donation, please contact Donovan Leon at 518-637-3454.

Wishing you a great weekend,
Matt
