Meeting with AEDC
This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Victoria Duley, Executive Director, and Jamie Cecilia, Director of Lending, from the Adirondack Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) at The Forks Blend and Brew. AEDC is a non-profit economic development organization and Community Development Financial Institution based in Saranac Lake. They provide business training, lending, and technical assistance to underserved populations as well as new and existing businesses throughout Northern NY.
Victoria and Jamie are excited about the steps we’ve taken to support and engage our local business community and are eager to assist businesses in the Town of Jay. This partnership comes as we prepare to accept applications for our CDBG Microenterprise Grant through the Essex County IDA. I’ll be introducing both new and existing businesses to AEDC for additional support where needed. If you’re interested in learning more, please reach out to my office at 518-647-2204 or email me at supervisor@townofjayny.gov.
Adirondack Explorer Funding Discussion
On Thursday, I attended a panel discussion hosted by the Adirondack Council titled, “When it comes to state funding, are the Adirondacks left behind?” This two-hour conversation focused on municipal water and sewer infrastructure funding with representatives from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC), Adirondack Council, Lake Champlain Lake George Regional Planning Board (LCLGRPB), Adirondack Explorer, and two of my colleagues from the Essex County Board of Supervisors; Supervisor Davina Thurston of St. Armand and Supervisor Cathy Reusser from Elizabethtown.
The discussion was incredibly informative, highlighting the challenges in securing grant opportunities for key infrastructure projects. It also opened the door to follow-up meetings with stakeholders such as the Adirondack Council and the Northern Forest Center in the coming weeks.
Don’t Get Sprayed!
The Town of Jay Water Department completed repairs to the sprinkler system at the Jay Village Green this week. With the earlier upgrade to the electrical panel, the addition of a new timer circuit board, and installation of fresh piping and sprinkler heads, the Village Green is now set to maintain its “Green” appearance.
A big thank you to our dedicated staff for their continued efforts to beautify our community. The sprinklers will now run daily from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM, helping to keep the park looking its best for all the events scheduled this month.
Hope you have a great weekend,
Matt
