Busy Town Board Meeting
At last night’s Town Board meeting, we covered significant ground discussing project updates, awarding bids, and contracting services. The Board officially awarded the Douglas Memorial Park Tennis and Basketball Court Upgrade contract to Fuller Excavating for $167,000, leveraging a $125,000 DASNY grant alongside Occupancy Tax funding. We also authorized MJ Engineering to conduct a drainage assessment on Rolling Mill Hill Road.
After receiving no bids for a combined project, the Board voted to re-bid the Town Hall Building Envelope project into two dedicated RFPs: one for window replacement and one for roof insulation. Additionally, the Board renewed the Town’s annual Voyent Alert! emergency notification subscription and contracted with Adirondack Surveying to establish clear boundary lines for the Harkness Sand Pit.
Highway and equipment operations also received key approvals to ensure uninterrupted municipal services. The Board authorized Stark Tech Services to handle semi-annual generator maintenance under Essex County piggyback pricing. We also approved the purchase of a new steel partial-tilt trailer alongside 16 new tandem truck tires to prepare our winter snow removal operations.
Finally, to clear out municipal inventory, several aging and unusable items were declared surplus, including a 2013 Ford, an old Sure Trac trailer, a Quincy air compressor, various plow parts, and unused boxes of flooring from the Community Center. The full video recording of the meeting is available for review on the Town website.
