Sustainability and Energy Fair Tomorrow at the Jay Village Green

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, September 12th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Jay Village Green and Amos and Julia Ward Theater (15 Parkside Road, Jay) for the Sustainability and Energy Fair! This free family fun day connects local residents with contractors, energy experts, and environmental organizations shaping a more sustainable future. Attendees can learn about home energy efficiency, solar programs, heat pumps, electric vehicles, composting, and regional conservation initiatives. The afternoon features live music by RePlay, balloon art and face painting by Merriloons the Clown, activities for kids, and local food and refreshments.

Town Board Meeting Recap

At last night’s Town Board meeting, we covered significant ground across community infrastructure, emergency services, and local grant initiatives. To support our emergency responders, we agreed to enter into a contract with the Town of Black Brook to purchase a new ambulance, which will be leased directly to the Au Sable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service.

On the facility front, we officially issued an RFP for energy efficiency upgrades at the Community Center, which is fully funded through an EPA grant, and began advertising an RFP for upcoming court upgrades at Douglas Memorial Park. Additionally, we are moving forward with our Composting Grant initiative and have ordered the containers needed to get the program underway.

On a solemn note, the Board passed a Resolution of Condolence honoring the life, memory, and dedicated public service of former Town Councilman, Firefighter, and Essex County Dispatcher Lee Torrance.

We also reissued an RFP for an independent Economic Impact Study regarding Au Sable Forks Elementary School so we can thoroughly evaluate the potential community and financial impacts of any future school changes. Thank You to Our Community

Last weekend was like the Labor Days I remember as a kid in Au Sable Forks: a fun-filled weekend of activities and catching up with old friends and family.

I would like to give a huge thank you to the Art in the Forks committee for an amazing inaugural event, which brought people walking up and down Main Street all day. I would also like to thank the Knights of Columbus for adding to the event by restarting their annual Chicken BBQ tradition and selling out in under an hour! Finally, thank you to the Town of Black Brook for another great Labor Day Parade and event at River Park. Thank you to everyone who was involved to make this weekend happen and to help breathe life back into our community.
