Special Board Meeting Recap

On Wednesday, July 1st, the Town of Jay Town Board held a special meeting to discuss our upcoming water upgrade projects. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce bond resolutions for all three Town of Jay Water Districts and to schedule Public Hearings for Wednesday, July 22nd, at 6:30 pm.

These resolutions are being passed at this time so the Town can apply for funding from the DEC Water Improvement and Infrastructure Act (WIIA) as part of the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) due at the end of the month. The planned improvements include the DEC-mandated water meter installations, a new water tank in the Au Sable Forks district, a new control system, a new well, pump station upgrades, and other necessary improvements to the Jay and Upper Jay districts. If the WIIA grant is awarded, it will cover 50 percent of the project costs. We are continuing to aggressively look for other funding sources to further defray the remaining costs for district users.

Ride for the River

For over a decade, Ride for the River has been a premier celebration of the stunning Ausable River watershed. Featuring multiple breathtaking route options, the event also hosts a 20-mile “tailgater” group ride on July 11th for those who would like to come into town a day or two early to make it a full weekend.

This fun annual fundraiser directly supports the important work of the nonprofit Ausable Freshwater Center to protect the clean waters, healthy streams, biodiverse habitats, and scenic beauty of the Ausable River watershed.
