Amnesty Day 2026
The Town of Jay will hold Amnesty Day on Saturday, May 16th, from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm (or until the bins are full) at the Highway Garage, 168 Valley Road, Jay. This event is exclusively for Town of Jay residents; businesses are not eligible, and proof of residency will be required.
Thanks to Essex County Soil and Water, we can once again accept up to four tires per household. Additionally, we will accept electronics at no cost to the Town, thanks to Ewaste. We hold this event every other year to help property owners clear out unnecessary clutter and keep our community looking its best.
Youth Program Sign-ups
Registration for baseball, softball, and T-ball is currently underway, with a deadline of April 14th. If you have not yet signed up, please do so here: https://forms.gle/YLEMVLLiUhEV6bBG7
We are also in need of umpires to help our program run smoothly. Clinton County will pay $32 per game for certified umpires. Training takes only two hours on a single day, and adults are highly encouraged to participate.
The Summer Youth Program will return to AuSable Valley this year, hosted at the AuSable Forks Elementary School. The program runs from July 6 through August 6, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. To register your child, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdz7vpI3YbvPU_83pcw8cHQ0pASz8oK7VE8wZiInXnAjv6Uyw/viewform?pli=1
Public Transportation Survey
Essex County Transportation is seeking your input regarding public transit in our county. They want to hear what is working, what is not, and what changes are needed in our area. You can support this effort by taking the survey at: https://engage-transpogroup.com/ecpt-coordinated-plan/survey
Respondents can be entered for a chance to win a free day pass from Essex County Transportation.
Contra Dance at the Community Center
The Jay Entertainment and Music Society (JEMS) is hosting a contra dance fundraiser at the Community Center gym on April 8th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There is a suggested donation of $10 to support necessary repairs to the Amos and Julia Ward Theatre.
Thanks to an anonymous community supporter, all proceeds from this event will be matched, doubling your impact. This generous donor will match up to $15,000 in total donations made between now and May 31. Music will be graciously provided by Adirondack 2-Step with Jeremy Clifford.
Have a great weekend,
Matt
