’Tis the Season
As winter sets in, the Town of Jay Highway Department would like to remind everyone to keep trash cans pulled back from the edge of the road to avoid issues during snow removal. We also want to remind residents that snow from driveways should not be pushed across the roadway. Thank you for helping us keep our roads safe and passable throughout the winter season.

Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages
This week, I attended the winter meeting of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages (AATV) in Lake George. The agenda included an excellent group of representatives from New York State agencies, and I appreciated the opportunity to connect with them. I spoke with Secretary of State Walter Mosley about the future of Mountain View Cemetery in Upper Jay and the financial challenges facing AVCS, which will undoubtedly affect Town of Jay residents. I also met with Ali Webinaro from the Governor’s Office and Steve Hunt from Empire State Development to discuss funding opportunities for infrastructure, economic development, and efficiency initiatives. I look forward to continued collaboration with these partners to bring new opportunities to our community.

Town Board Meeting Recap
The Town Board held its monthly meeting last night, and it was a productive session. We approved a contract renewal to continue gymnastics programming on the second floor of the Community Center, a contract with the Ausable Theater for a holiday show on December 28th, and we will be meeting with a resident interested in starting Zumba classes in the gym. We also renewed our agreement with Voyent Alert! to continue providing timely communications on road conditions, weather emergencies, meeting reminders, and more. If you are not already signed up for this service, you can do so using the link in the attached flyer. As always, the meeting video is available online for anyone who would like to watch.

Hope you have a great weekend,
Matt.
