Au Sable Forks Historic District
On Wednesday, December 4, a portion of the Hamlet of Au Sable Forks in the Town of Jay was officially added to the New York State Historic Register. This achievement was made possible with support from Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) and funding from a Preserve NY grant awarded to the Town in 2024.
The next step in the process is for AARCH to work with the New York State Office of Historic Preservation to submit a nomination to the National Park Service for consideration for the National Register of Historic Places.
With this new designation, eligible property owners can now apply for New York State Historic Tax Credits. To learn more about these programs, visit the State Parks website at https://parks.ny.gov/preservation/programs/tax-credit or stop by my office to pick up informational handouts.
