Essex County Fair
The Essex County Fair is in full swing this week at the fairgrounds in Westport, NY, running from Wednesday through Sunday. This beloved annual tradition offers agricultural exhibits, livestock shows, thrilling rides, and a wide variety of local food vendors. Whether you’re here for the tractor pulls, live entertainment, or a stroll through the midway, there’s something for everyone. It’s a wonderful way to support local farmers, artisans, and community groups while enjoying a fun-filled day in the heart of Essex County.
Walls Between Waters: Take 2
In 2025, the Essex County Land Bank partnered with the North Country Rural Development Coalition (NRDC) to create a mural festival in Ticonderoga, transforming spaces near blighted, vacant, and abandoned properties with vibrant public art. These installations have brought new life to the community, fostering pride and encouraging economic revitalization. In 2026, NRDC will bring this transformative project to two more Essex County communities where Land Bank projects are underway, and the Town of Jay is one of them! Essex County State of Emergency & Burn Ban
Essex County has declared a State of Emergency due to ongoing dry conditions and increased fire risk. A countywide Burn Ban is now in effect, prohibiting all open burning until further notice. Residents are urged to take extra precautions to prevent accidental fires and to follow all local and county safety guidelines. This State of Emergency may be extended if dry conditions persist.
