Regular Town Board Meeting Recap
Last night, we held our regular monthly Town Board meeting at the Community Center and covered a number of important topics.
Christine Bush from Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) joined us as a guest speaker to share updates on her work toward securing a Historic District Designation for a portion of Au Sable Forks. This process has the potential to bring significant benefits to the area. In the coming months, there will be several opportunities for residents within the proposed district to learn more about the advantages of this designation.
Town Assessor Tim Gay provided a brief overview of how assessments work and stressed the importance of maintaining a 100% equalization rate. The Town Board agreed to host a public meeting this summer where residents can learn more about how assessments impact them. This format was well received in the Town of Keene and we hope to replicate that success here in Jay.
Wally Walters, Chair of the Comprehensive Plan Special Board, announced the next opportunity for public engagement: a Visioning Workshop to be held at the Amos and Julia Ward Theater (next to the Jay Village Green) on Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you’re interested in attending, please contact my office to sign up.
The full video of the meeting is now available online.
